Healthy Relationships
Teenagers are still learning about relationships, so they don't always recognize warning signs and unhealthy behaviors. Even when they do, they often don't have the skills or resources to address the problem.

One out of every five high school girls reports being sexually and/or physically abused by a
dating partner.

Whether they admit it or not, teenagers still look to their parents for advice. You have influence on how they live their lives and an opportunity to teach them about respectful relationships.

Discussion Tip:
Ask your daughter or son what she or he thinks a healthy relationship looks like. Then use examples from your own experiences (or those of people you know) to validate or counter your teen s ideas.
