Sexual Harassment
Flirting between teens is common and healthy. But, like some adults, there are teens who have trouble negotiating the line between respectful behavior and unwanted attention.

Approximately 80% of teenagers experience sexual harassment.

Sexual harassment is any unwanted physical or verbal advance that is sexual in nature. It leaves the recipient feeling threatened and demeaned and can make a place like school feel scary and hostile.

Discussion Tip:
Ask your teen what she or he knows about sexual harassment, and talk about which behaviors are respectful and which aren't. If your daughter or son discloses that she or he is a victim of sexual harassment, take the claim seriously. Encourage your teen to confront the harasser and then report the incident(s) to the guidance counselor or principal.
